How It Works

Step 1

Register

Register to play at www.relegationfantasy.com and receive a league assignment.

New players always get assigned to the lowest available league opening.

Returning players will either be returned to their league from the previous season, promoted to a higher tier league, or relegated to a lower tier league.

Step 2

Play

Drafts for all leagues will take place on the same date. The league office will select this date, which will be set at least a month before the draft.

Each league will contain one large division. Every team within the league will play each other at least once per season.

The top 8 teams in the league will make the playoffs.

Step 3

Relegation & Promotion

The champion of each Tier 2+ league will be promoted to the league tier directly above theirs.

The top 4 teams within the BRONZE, SILVER, & GOLD leagues will be promoted to the league directly above theirs.

The bottom 4 teams (teams who miss the playoffs) in each Tier 2+ league will be relegated to the league directly below theirs.

Teams who are relegated from the BRONZE league and all tiers below will be split into the 4 Tier 2 leagues.

Promotion can be denied. Relegation cannot be denied.

Important Info

Promotion

To a Tier 2+ League

  • All Tier 2+ leagues require that you win your league in order to be promoted to the next tier.
  • All Tier 2+ league champions will receive an email with an invitation to their new league assignment.
  • This invitation can be declined.
  • If the invitation is declined, the invitation will pass to the next ranked league finisher.

To a Tier 1 League

  • All Tier 1 Leagues (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Lombardi) require that you finish within the top 3 teams at the end of the season to gain promotion.
  • All Tier 1 League Medalists will receive an email with an invitation to their new league assignment.
  • This invitation can be declined.
  • If the invitation is declined, the invitation will pass to the next ranked league finisher.

Relegation

From a Tier 2+ League

  • All Tier 2+ leagues require that the player place within the bottom 4 of the league in order to be relegated to a lower tier.
  • Relegation cannot be declined.

From the Bronze League

  • The bottom 4 teams of the Bronze League will be relegated into the 4 different Tier 2 Leagues.
  • League A, B, C, D
  • Relegation cannot be denied.

From the Silver, Gold, or Lombardi League

  • The bottom 4 teams of the Lombardi, Silve, & Gold Leagues will be relegated into the league directly below theirs.
  • Relegation cannot be denied.

Tier-Up Funding

9% of each league's total pot (excluding the Lombardi League) is taken out to fund the upper tiers of the RFL.

  • This is done to reward players in the upper tiers of the RFL and allows them to compete for a larger pool of available earnings.
  • This also means that the more members who join the RFL adds to the total available winnings for each league.

The total available winnings will be listed on the Relegation League Bracket

Leaving the RFL

  • If a player decides to leave the RFL they will lose their progression within the Relegation & Promotion Ladder.
  • If they decide to re-enter the league at any time, they will be treated as a new player.
